Character encoding
What is a Character Encoding?
One of the causes of garbled text when opening a file is character encoding.
Character encoding refers to the numerical rules assigned to characters, and if the encoding used is incorrect, the characters may not be displayed properly.
Supported Character Encodings and How to Choose
Motivation Cloud Engagement supports the character encodings "Shift_JIS" and "UTF-8".
When downloading a file, please choose the character encoding according to the content you plan to input.
| Content to Input into the File | Recommended Encoding | Notes |
| Includes foreign languages or platform-dependent characters | UTF-8 | |
| Inputting only Japanese | Shift-JIS | Select this if you are using Excel 2013 or earlier |
* Depending on the decompression software you use (such as free tools like Lhaplus), garbled text may occur. Please use the built-in extraction feature of your PC.
